Marsha Graham wants women to be in control. But the singer-actress
turned entrepreneur knows that one of the toughest places for females to feel
any level of control is often in the bedroom. And while she doesn't have any
suggestions as to how to manage the male of the species (who really does,
anyway?), Graham has created a new compact that takes one worry out of the
sexual equation.
"Women have always been responsible for birth control,"
she says wisely. "So why not come up with a way that we can carry condoms
discreetly? That's where the idea for the "Just in Case" compact was born. It's
a way to carry condoms without embarrassment. It's just a compact in your purse,
no one can tell what it really is."
Her product is simple, a discreet
acrylic compact in pretty colors like "Petulant Pink, Luscious Lime, Goddess
Gold, Mystic Metal, and Rendez-Vous Red," that when opened seems to be just a
touch-up mirror. But the empowered owner knows its secret, that the under
section opens to reveal two condoms nestled within.
Graham, who recently
launched Just in Case with her daughter Rachael Sudul, explains that this simple
compact is the key to making every woman a truly independent, in control sexual
being.
"We really wanted to give women a sense of empowerment, give them
a sense of confidence, and do it all with style! We know women, and we know they
don't have condoms floating around in their purses, despite the fact that we all
know we should. We all have the education, we've all gotten the information
about AIDS and STDs and the need for protection beyond pregnancy, but we're not
changing our practices. So we're giving women an easy way to change."
The
fifty something businesswoman also wants to make sure that women of every age
are being wise, not just the younger ones at risk of unwanted pregnancies.
"There are lots of, let's call them 'mature' women, who need Just in Case, too.
Because women of all ages need to remember that condoms are not just for
contraception. They are for protection from all the things that are floating
around out there!"
Just in Case compacts range from $24-$150 and are sold
at Fred Segal in Los Angeles, in Las Vegas at the MGM Mirage, the Palms, and the
Venetian, and on line at www.justincaseinc.com.
As Graham reminds, every
woman should follow the Just in Case company slogan, "Love Well. Love
Wisely."
"I really believe that women need to step forward to take this
responsibility themselves. If I can help one woman protect herself, that's
great."
